Methyildibromo glutaronitrile

Secondo alcune fonti LINK il methyildibromo glutaronitrile è un conservante utilizzato in passato con funzione antibatterica e antimicotica e da tempo vietato nei prodotti cosmetici commercializzati nel territorio dell'Unione Europea, perché in grado di causare dermatiti e irritazioni della pelle.

Secondo altre fonti LINK invece, il methyildibromo glutaronitrile, CAS NO. 35691-65-7, synonims 1,2-Dibromo-2,4-dicyanobutane; Bromothalonil; 1-Bromo-1-(bromomethyl)-1,3-propanedicarbonitrile; 2-Bromo-2-(bromomethyl) glutaronitrile; 2-Bromo-2-(bromomethyl)pentanedinitrile) è descritto come
"A preservative is an additive for foods, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, cosmetics and other industrial products to reduce spoilage that air, fungi, bacteria, or yeast can cause. Methyldibromo glutaronitrile is used as an preservative for foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics as well as for other industrial products including coatings, slurries and to control microbial fouling in paper mills, oil field and leather process. It is used in water treatment process.".

O anche: The use of MG is permitted in other products, for example, detergents and cleaning agents, adhesives, paint and industrial oils. People who have been diagnosed with MG allergy should avoid exposure to any product containing MG. It is mandatory to include any MG content in the list of ingredients on cosmetics, detergents and cleaning agents. This is not the case for other products. As MG also appears under other names, it may be necessary to contact the manufacturer of the product to get a comprehensive list of ingredients.
