A Salesman and his Boss: # of face to face calls

Visitando alcuni siti americani ho trovato questo interessante aneddoto:

A young man goes to work as a salesman and his boss tells him that he must go out to make face to face calls with prospective buyers.

The first day he comes back at the end of the day and his boss asks him how many people to do see today? He replies "I saw 10 people today.” The boss frowned and told him he needed to see more people.

So the next day when he came back from seeing prospects the boss asked him again "How many people did you see today." and the young man told him that he had seen 20 prospects.

This went on all week Wednesday was 30 people and Thursday was 40 and the boss kept telling him he needed to see more people and he had one more day to prove himself, if he did not see more people on Friday he would be fired.

Well on Friday he came back to the office and the boss asked him about how many people he had seen his reply was "I saw 50 people." The boss got irate and started to admonish him for seeing only 50 people with the reminder, to him of his promise to fire him if he had not seen more people. The young man interrupted his boss and said " I could have seen more people but one person wanted to give me business."
